Nicola Stubbins, ADSS Cymru President:

As we stand and reiterate our thanks this evening to our key workers, I want to extend my deepest gratitude, on behalf of the leadership of social services in Wales, to our social care workforce - our social workers, care home workers, community care workers and unpaid carers, who selflessly continue to provide critical care and protection each day to our most at-risk citizens, under extremely challenging circumstances.

I want to assure all our care workers in Wales, that ADSS Cymru alongside colleagues across our profession are continuing to speak up on your behalf. We are working with local and national government on a range of key issues, to ensure that:

•    the right PPE is provided to frontline staff,
•    testing is made available and accessible to you,
•    you receive appropriate guidance and support,
•    financial pressures for care providers brought on by this crisis are addressed,
•    the work you do is recognised and valued.

We know that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic remains at a critical level, and we will continue to take every opportunity to ensure that you are supported to carry out your work as safely as possible.

I am deeply proud of our social care family, and the values and commitment we all share to safeguard those in need, and support people to live the lives that matter to them.

Thank you and stay safe.

Nicola Stubbins
