Are you a health or social care worker in Wales?

All staff working in health and social care are being urged to complete a risk assessment, to assess whether they are at a greater risk of developing serious symptoms as a result of COVID-19.

The All Wales COVID-19 Workforce Risk Assessment Tool has been developed to help people working in the NHS and Social Care in Wales to stay safe and to be able to make adjustments if they are at a higher risk of more serious symptoms if they come into contact with the Covid-19 virus.

The tool has been developed by the Welsh Government's BAME Covid-19 health advisory group to help to reduce people’s risk of contracting coronavirus in the workplace. The advisory group included two subgroups – one looking at the socio-economic factors, chaired by Professor Emmanuel Ogbonna – and a subgroup to accelerate work on the risk assessment tool for the health and social care workforce, chaired by Professor Keshav Singhal.

The risk assessment subgroup designed a two-stage risk assessment which can be used across the NHS and social care, featuring a simple scoring table, which could be transferred to other workplaces and sectors.

People at increased risk may, in discussion with their line manager, agree to adjustments to their working arrangements or to work from home.
