In March, a new Act of Senedd was given Royal Assent: The Health and Social Care (Wales) Act. It changes how children’s social services are delivered by removing private profit from services for children who are looked after. The goal is to shift the care system towards a not-for-profit model by 2030, aiming to improve services and the experiences of children by reinvesting in care.
This will impact on the way local authorities find homes for the children and young people we have a duty to look after.
We are hosting a lunch and learn webinar for children’s services teams across Wales on Friday 28 November, at 12noon.
The session will focus on the real-life experiences of foster carers, care leavers and social work practitioners to illustrate the human impact and importance of the removal of profit legislation.
In response to feedback from the previous event, the November webinar has been extended to allow time for questions and answers.
