ADSS Cymru welcomes the Welsh Government decision to amend the cut-off date for applications to register or add a new restricted children’s service or place following feedback from some providers.
The new deadline of 31 March 2026 will support a smoother transition and reduce the risk of service disruption.
Increasing capacity targeted at meeting children’s needs with evidence-based models of care remains critical to ensuring vulnerable children and young people across Wales have access to safe, appropriate and stable placements close to home.
ADSS Cymru has written to local authority planning leads to outline the planning implications to maximise the benefits of this extended timeframe.
