The Association of Directors of Social Services (ADSS) Cymru has produced a powerful short film in tribute to social care workers in Wales, some of whom lost their lives due to Coronavirus, whilst many more have taken great risks to their personal safety and well-being to deliver care and support to vulnerable people throughout the Covid pandemic.
The main feature of this moving and atmospheric film is a poem by a domiciliary care worker from Monmouthshire, Rowenna Gane. ADSS Cymru worked with local videographer, Great Bear Media to create a film that captures the sense of gratitude felt right across Wales for the incredible sacrifices made by frontline workers in social care.
The President of ADSS Cymru, Jonathan Griffiths, said:
"The response and continuing challenges faced by the social care workforce in the face of the covid pandemic has without doubt been monumental for people needing care and support.
"The words expressed in this powerful tribute by Rowenna Gane, as a frontline carer, capture that impact far better than I can. My sincere thanks and admiration to you ‘true angels in disguise’. I know we will work together on a positive future for a workforce we value for the difference you make to people's lives."
