The Safeguarding Leadership Group is a multi-agency group and takes lead responsibility for coordinating ADSS Cymru’s policy on adults’ and children’s safeguarding issues.

The group meets on a six-monthly basis.

Policy lead: Sue Cooper (Bridgend)

Protecting our most vulnerable children and adults is a shared priority between local government and NHS and has resonance in view of the ‘Trusted to Care’ report in Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board (ABMUHB) and other incidents elsewhere in Wales and the impact of the review of residential care by the Older People’s Commissioner for Wales. In addition, the increasingly high profile of child sexual exploitation contributes to this being a significant priority.

Priorities:

  • Ensuring effective structures and systems to protect the most vulnerable
  • Providing strong professional leadership
  • Contributing to new structures for children and adults so that safe and sustainable solutions are found
  • Placing safeguarding at the heart of a partnership across the public sector and beyond.
